Read My Mind Winter issue 2017 is out now!

These days, thanks to social media making friends and connecting with people from across the globe has become easy. But building friendships based on honesty, loyalty, integrity and respect is the challenging part. Like in every relationship honesty, trust, love, compassion and appreciation are required to cherish one another. Our experience in 2017 has been mostly positive.

We started this magazine in spring 2017 with seven international authors/bloggers from across the globe as a sign of unity despite distance, different time zones and continents, age, mother language, level of education, lifestyle, and life stories. However, four authors are no longer part of the Read My Mind Team. Unfortunately, it is not everyone’s cup of tea to be fully engaged and committed to such a time-consuming project, for which we have full understanding. People come and go. That’s the hard reality of life! We read a quote somewhere recently and it said: “Be willing to walk alone. Many who started with you won’t finish with you!”

I have to say working on Read My Mind made me learn a lot about myself. I will never understand why kindness and generosity backfires on one in a hurtful way, when you least expect it and that’s fine. I won’t change my trustworthy, honest and supportive way, because that’s who I am.

The most important lesson I learned in the making of each issue has been to stay truthful to myself, my values and my beliefs regardless of the consequences. I also learned not to care about jealousy. Instead, I have full compassion for people with lack of self-confidence, who throw rocks at things that shine.  A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.

Let me use a quote from my book “Teddy & Lily, True Friendship is Unconditional Loyalty”: “Making friends is easy, but keeping friends is the difficult part. Friendship is like a flower. It needs daily love and care to blossom. If you forget to give it water, the flower dies. It’s as simple as that!”

I began with blogging in 2016 to mainly promote my books. But because of my wide field of interest in music, movies, and politics, my blog posts became more and more popular.

With up to 15,000 blog visitors monthly on LilyAmis.blogspot.com from across the globe, it would be crazy not to continue my blogger magazine. Since March 2017 we had over 150,000 Read My Mind readers as well. As the magazine title says “Read MY Mind”. So I will continue to write about all kinds of topics like I did on my blog and from time to time we will feature guest writers/bloggers in 2018.

We are already working on the spring 2018 issue with brand new and exciting columns. Of course, we like to use this opportunity and thank the four former team members for their contribution in the first and second issue. And we like to thank those who are still on board. You and your work are much appreciated. We would also like to thank our interview partners in 2017. Keep up the great work and best of luck with your future projects. But our biggest Thank you goes to our readers. Please spread your love and make sure that everyone knows about “Read My Mind” and our future issues. The Teddy Project

As you may know, I have published a book early this year with the title “Teddy & Lily, True Friendship is Unconditional Loyalty”. In August the multi-talented actor, singer, and voice-over artist, Carl Lindquist, narrated “Teddy& Lily” for me. The audiobook will be soon available in all online retail stores and on CD via Amazon. You can listen to the sample here on SoundCloud.

Christmas is around the corner and I like to make giveaways with a print copy of “Teddy & Lily” along with the audiobook on CD for children in need. Especially for refugee kids, who are easily forgotten and sadly too often rejected, and for children in hospitals and with disabilities in special schools. 

“The Teddy Project” is not going to be only active on Christmas but throughout the entire year. As you can guess, doing giveaways with printed books and pressed audiobooks on CD is costly. And that’s where you come in. You can help me in two ways. You may provide me with information about a child who’s hospitalized or in a refugee camp, or/and you may donate as much as you can to make it possible for me to cover the production and shipping cost.

Let us put a smile on children’s faces regardless of their life story and their home country. What we adults often forget is how important and priceless emotional support is to little children. And what is better and more heartwarming than a lovely and sweet book (based on a true story) that educates and inspires children and their parents?

The IDEA BEHIND THE Title “Read my Mind” and The Magazine Cover

Our mind is the most personal and private treasure we have. We all have opinions and thoughts based on our life’s experiences. People see us and hear us talk, but they don’t always know what we really think or what we really feel!

And yet here we are naming our magazine, “Read My Mind”. Why? Because, we are here to share our honest and most personal thoughts, experiences, and knowledge with our readers.

The human mind is the body’s hard disk. The human’s heart is the body’s electricity. Unfortunately, most humans take everything for granted. But, think about all the knowledge we treasure in our minds. Day by day we are overdosed with some useful, but mostly useless, information. We don’t even realize how much information collects in our brain. And we wonder why sometimes we don’t remember something. Other times we are surprised about our remarkable ability to find answers or remember stuff that we haven’t thought about for years!

Our mind is what makes us who we are. Our mind is what makes us achieve our goals, wishes, and dreams! Our mind is the key to almost everything in life. If we are honest with our mind and our heart - which is not always easy - nothing and, I mean nothing and no-one, can stop us from our personal missions.

None of us is perfect. We all have our strengths and weakness. I remember during school time I had a horrible teacher. He made my life a living hell, simply because he hated foreigners! Because of him I felt useless and thought I was the most stupid person on the planet. It took years, a new school, new teachers, and my Mum’s incredible love and support until I finally realized that I’m not stupid. I’m not useless. I do have my talents. I may not be a genius in math, but I have a talent for art and writing. So what I’m trying to say is: We all should train our minds to focus on our strengths and our passions and not torture our minds with our weaknesses or things that we don’t like. We shouldn’t listen to other people’s opinions and let them brainwash our minds with negativity. The sooner we learn who we are and what we are good at, the sooner we find the right road to drive. Many of us have lost precious lifetime, in our twenties or even thirties, because of life’s circumstances and expectations by society. But, it is never too late to turn in the right direction.

At the end of the day, we all know that nothing is permanent. And the only thing that really matters is that we have peace of mind. You cannot please everyone and you know what? You shouldn’t even try. The only person who you should please is you!

The reason why I chose a globe on the Cover was for two reasons.

Firstly, because our blogger team is international. We live in different continents and time zones and yet we are still connected and in daily contact. I know more about my blogger team than about my neighbor, who’s lived next door for almost ten years. That’s the irony but also the miracle of our decade.

The second reason I chose the globe, is because life on Earth will go on, with or without us. The world was here before us and the world will be hereafter us. So, we shouldn’t take anything or anyone too seriously and let meaningless issues toy with our peace of mind and peace of soul. Beauty, youth, fame, fortune, and power will fade. The only thing that stays forever is what we do with our time, what we create with our minds, hearts, and souls. The legacy of creativity, with our talents, whether it is in art, writing, music, or entertainment, these are the really precious and timeless treasures that matter!

About the book "Teddy & Lily"

Do you remember the first Teddy you ever got?

Do you remember the person who gave it to you?

 

Teddies symbolize love and friendship, in many cultures. It doesn’t matter how old you are and it doesn’t make a difference whether you’re a girl or a boy, a grown-up lady, or a man. Everybody loves Teddies, because they’re just so cute and cuddly.

As we get older, life changes. Relationships end and family and friends go their separate ways. All we are left with are the lovely memories we cherish in our heart. But the love for our favourite Teddy never changes. Teddies don’t leave us, like people do. They are loyal friends for life.

Who or what inspired me to write the, "Teddy & Lily" story?

If I had to answer this question with only two words: Two-faced people! I’m still working on the last part of my trilogy, “Definition of Love” and during the research and writing process, I looked back over the people who had come in and out of my life. I analyzed relationships with family members, friends, and working colleagues and came to one sad conclusion: Humans are regrettably the most unkind, ungrateful, dishonest, and disloyal of friends.

Just recently I was once again disappointed by a few humans, who only pretended to be nice until they got what they wanted. Lies and dishonesty are something that makes me sick to my stomach. What makes me more furious is when humans behave badly and disrespectfully but seriously think they got away with it, by fooling and pretending nothing ever happened.

That’s how I came up with the idea to write this book from Teddy’s point of view. The story is inspired by true events from my memoir “Destination: Freedom”.

History reloaded – Best of Lily Amis Blog 2015

 

In 2015 during the refugee crises in Europe I was very active on Twitter and published a lot about my own experience as a war refugee back in the 80es and my view about the refugee's misery of today, three decades later. Then in February 2017, I published all my posts from 2015 until 2016 in one book as "History reloaded, Shit happens...", which you can get in print and read as an ebook on Amazon!

This deeply meaningful short, age- and timeless story inspired by the two memoirs Destination: Freedom and Definition of Freedom is a reflection of Lily’s Life in a foreign country.

Fishy’s desperate desire for freedom, a circle of loving friends and a caring family, the feeling of belonging somewhere and of being accepted and integrated is what many refugees/immigrants feel and struggle with. As much as we authors and bloggers love to talk about politics and other worldwide issues, we at “nasSima-design”, the publisher of “Read My Mind”, try not to publish anything about negative topics in our magazine. Unfortunately, politics and dirty money are ruling the world, and our lives are overshadowed by negativity, terror, and horrible news. We can’t change the world, but at least we can change your mind, for a while.

I had decided to cut myself off from the Internet completely and was about to focus solely on my book scripts in 2017 when an event on Facebook caught my attention. An American Author organized a Facebook Event, with the message “Our Books Are Not Free”. I just couldn’t resist being part of it and luckily got a free spot on the last day of the event, which took place between 11th and 15th February 2017, with over a hundred authors from all kinds of genres, from all over the world.

I was fascinated by the idea that we all were part of something so historical that I set up a Facebook group, “Authors Support Authors”. In a short matter of time, I learned so much, from so many different authors. One of the ladies, another American author, and publisher inspired me to publish my own magazine. And here we are… the rest, as they say, is history.

Meet American Author Tom Fallwell

Today I like you to meet American Author and Broadcaster Tom Fallwell. Having always had a fascination with fantasy world-building, even from early in his life, Tom wanted to create his own world filled with rich history. His Rangers of Laerean series does just that, painting a panoramic landscape that is both magical and deadly, in which to set the stories of his Rangers.

Tom lives in the greater Oklahoma City area, in America's homeland, and spends much of his time with watching movies, when not writing his latest work.

The Shadow of Narwyrm

In the epic conclusion to the Shadows Trilogy of the Rangers of Laerean series, much lore from the ancient past is learned, and the history of the ancient magical creatures known as the Mythica is discovered, while the shadow of the great Dragon Spirit, Narwyrm, looms over them all.

Tom thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Please tell me when did you first start writing? Was being a writer something you always aspired to be? I started writing professionally in 2014, after retiring from being a software developer. I had always wanted to tell stories, they were always floating around in my head, and after retiring I found the time to start writing them down. Now I can’t stop.

What would you like to achieve as an Author? While it would be great to be a best-selling author, or to have the success that some do, my focus is simply on entertaining those the love the stories I tell. If someone tells me they loved one of my stories, I feel like a complete success.

 

What is your best advice based on your own experiences so far to other Authors? Write because you love it, not to gain riches and popularity. Your attitude will be reflected in your work, so make sure you’re doing what you love. It will show.

 

What genres do you read and review to support your fellow Authors?
I prefer Fantasy and Sci-Fi type stories the most, but also enjoy many other genres. I have enjoyed Thrillers, Mysteries, Westerns and such, but Sci-Fi and Fantasy are what I enjoy the most.

A quote by you or your Life motto?

Well, there’s an old saying that I truly believe is honest words of wisdom. “What goes around, comes around.” If you want joy, give joy. If you want happiness, give happiness. It’s a solid and factual rule of the universe, and I know for a fact it works. The Bible calls it, “What you sow is what you reap.” I believe that to be an absolute truth.
