"80 Million People!" - Official press release!

As far as I know, no former refugees or international artist has ever released a song to this date to bring awareness about the plight of refugees worldwide. I hope with the miracle of music, my powerful lyrics, and the strong vocals by British singer, songwriter, and producer Thir13een we can make this petition happen!

The following press release was sent out this week to 500+ news websites, TV & Radio, Trade/Industry, national and International News sites.

Former Refugee, Lily Amis, Releases New Song To Help Bring Awareness To The Plight Of Refugees

The sensational song titled “80 Million People!,” was performed by British R&B and soul singer, songwriter, and producer, Thir13een, and is scheduled to be released on all streaming platforms on the 22nd of February, 2022

February 17th, 2022: Lily Amiss is pleased to announce that she will be releasing a new song to bring awareness to the plight of refugees. The Iranian born writer hopes that the miracle of music and the power of lyrics will be a wake-up call for privileged people who have a negative view of refugees and don’t show a sign of empathy, understanding, or support for their horrible living conditions.

Titled 80 Million People!, the meaningful lyrics of the new song were written by Lily Amis during the global pandemic and will be performed by the British R&B and soul singer, songwriter, and producer, Thrir13een from London. Scheduled to be released on the 22nd of February 2022, 80 Million People is a clarion call for empathy, kindness, and the nurturing of the world's collective humanity.

Lily Amiss is an Iranian-born Children and YA writer, Blogger, Lyricist, and Voice4refugees. Lily became a refugee at the tender age of 10, forced to witness the horrors and mayhem of the Iran-Iraq war which broke out in 1980. And even after more than three decades, the songwriter says her mind is still fresh with the memory of the carnage, hinting that the scars of war are never truly forgotten.

"The sound of the bombs dropping has stayed with me. It was like a firework, and even now after more than 30 years, when everyone is happy about fireworks, it still sounds to me like those bombs dropping."

According to Lily, her goal now is to raise as much awareness about the horrible plight of refugees and inspire people all over the world to take willful action, towards changing the way foreigners in distress are being treated, when they relocate seeking sanctuary. The brilliant author artfully captured her experience as a refugee, in a memoir titled Destination: Freedom (also published as The Stolen Years In Zurich), and is currently responsible for an online petition - #HumanityB4Nationality, which seeks to change the refugee law regarding education and integration rights worldwide.

“We have witnessed this horrible humanitarian crisis for over a decade. It is time to make a fundamental change and rescue the refugees from their life of misery. Refugees deserve a life of dignity. Safety and privacy, housing and food, medical and sociological care, and guidance for participating in the legal asylum-seeking process.”

The #HumanityB4Nationality petition is also available in German, Italian, Spanish, and French.

While the world awaits the release of 80 Million People!, the lyrics to the sensational piece of music can be read by clicking on the following link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBRkEVFadmk

"80 Million People!"

Song Text: Lily Amis, Gesang: Thir13een

German Lyric Translation:

"80 Millionen Menschen!

2020 war ein verrücktes Jahr für uns alle

Eine Pandemiekrise forderte seinen Tribut von Kindern und Erwachsenen

Unsicherheit beunruhigte unseren Geist

kein Schlaf, keine Hoffnung, überhaupt gar nichts

unter den unmenschlichsten Krisen aller Zeiten

80 Millionen Menschen kämpfen gegen dieses unmenschliche Verbrechen

80 Millionen Menschen!

"80 Million People" - Song Lyrics!

Twenty-twenty has been a crazy year for all of us
A pandemic crises has taken a toll on children and adults
Uncertainty was troubling our mind
Fear of the future was causing sleepless nights
What we have been experiencing is nothing new
80 million people forcibly displaced
This is the tragedy of our human race
26 million refugees facing the same fate
Trapped in refugee camps with no sign of hope
No sign of hope

Now you know how it feels like to be powerless
Now you know how it feels like to feel helpless
Now you know

At least we still have a home
So it s kind of ridiculous to blame and complain
While refugees are surviving this inhuman game
We still have a roof and a safe place to stay at in lockdown
What about those who are already lower than down?
What about those?

HumanityB4Nationality, this is my Voice4refugees
Tents is all they have
no privacy, no safety,
no comfort for children and adults
no sleep, no hope, nothing at all
under the most inhuman crises of all time
80 million people are struggling this inhuman crime
80 million people!

Now you know how it feels like to be powerless
Now you know how it feels like to feel helpless
Now you know how they feel

The horrible side effects of this pandemic
is nothing in comparison to surviving in refugee camps
80 million people are struggling to survive, to stay alive
Unhygienic and unsanitary conditions is all they know
while the majority of us is worrying
about toilet papers, disinfection soaps, and Co
Children s education is causing sleepless nights
Our children s future is darker than bright
while refugee children have absolutely no rights
Neither a home, nor schools
homeschooling for them is nothing but a dream
A dream and desire for the fools
80 million people!

Now you know how it feels like to be powerless
Now you know how it feels like to feel helpless
Now you know how they feel

Twenty-twenty-one was even worse
Losing jobs has become normality
Losing loved ones, our human tragedy
Losing homes our broken society
Social distancing and face masks the new reality
We have lost our freedom and sense of togetherness
That s why the reality feels so ridiculous

A global pandemic, borders, lockdowns, travel bans
Forced Quarantine, Covid tests and a vaccine are necessary
to finally understand 80 million people's misery

Now you know how it feels like to be powerless
Now you know how it feels like to feel helpless
Now you know how it feels like to be one of them
Now you feel it
Now you live it

"80 Million People!" - My song!

Lyrics: Lily Amis, Vocal: Thir13een

Genre: Soul & RnB, Duration: 5 minutes

Not one day goes by where we don’t see or read something about the suffering of refugees. And it hits us every single time. My mum and I can’t help it, we have to cry, because we feel their pain and we know exactly what a challenging and exhausting journey they have ahead: a life in uncertainty and fear of existence in a foreign country overshadowed by years of bureaucracy, racism, and discrimination! No right to proper education and employment. No right to proper integration and happy and independent life in dignity.

God is my witness, that in the previous six months I have done everything in my power to bring awareness about the plight of refugees with my online petition #HumanityB4Nationality at www.openpetitin.eu/HB4N

I want people to understand the refugees. They can never ever feel their pain, but at least understand their horrible and hopeless situation and realize that these people need all the love and support they can get and shouldn’t be punished by the refugee law. I have invested hours of Zoom meetings, DM on Social media, face to face conversations, and nothing happened so far! I could have easily talked to a wall! That’s how ignorant and indifferent people react when it comes to refugees. Even those who support and work with or for refugees haven’t shown their support by signing my petition, that only takes a minute of their precious and busy lifetime! Why? Only God knows! I have my thoughts and answers, but I leave it to you to decide why!

Also, the refugee crisis is not a popular topic! It is not chic! Most people think “Hey, it’s not my problem, what should I care?” or “It’s their own fault; they shouldn’t have left their home countries in the first place!“ Blaming innocent victims of wars, that have lost everything because of corrupt and mighty-hungry governments and politicians is so wrong. No one chooses to become a refugee and trust me anyone at any time, at any place can become a refugee overnight! As long as there are corrupt world rulers in power, anything at any time to anyone can happen, regardless of what nationality you have and where you live today!

So now I’m hoping for the power and miracle of music! My song lyric “80 Million People!” is dedicated to all the forgotten, voiceless and hopeless refugees that suffer in silence worldwide. When I wrote the lyrics back in May 2021 to submit it to the UK Songwriting Contest, my main goal was to bring awareness and get attention to this global issue. I was pretty sure, that I wrote a meaningful and strong lyric. However, the judges scored my song with only 4 from 5 stars! But I still believe in the message of my lyrics. After writing song lyrics for over a decade it was finally time to actually bring it to life!

So believed or not, everything happened very fast. On January 14th, I shared my lyrics on my blog. On January 19th I discovered a singer/songwriter in London and contacted him. I wrote him about my petition and goal with my lyrics. On January 20th I send him the lyrics for “80 Million People!” and in a week, on January 27th I received THE SONG!

I can’t even describe the feeling when you finally hear your lyrics come to life with a wonderful melody and a beautiful voice. I can't stop listening to it. It is in my head all day long and I hope you will enjoy it as well. As my featured artist correctly said, it was meant to be! He has done an amazing job and I couldn’t be more proud of my very first music project! I hope it is the first of many to come. I have a lot to say and hopefully, with the miracle of music, I can achieve my goal!

“80 Million People!” will be out in February. It's easy to remember the date: 22.2.22! The song will be available in all download stores. This is the official lyrics video on YouTube!
