Ping Pong & Puzzle - Fixing broken bridges!

On January the 13^th I’m releasing a very personal song. Ping Pong & Puzzle, Lily Amis feat. Thir13een is a pop song about letting go of people and past.

When you are a kid and playing with your cousins, you have no clue what the future will bring and how family members fall out and become strangers!

War is one of the most painful reasons why families separate and scattered. Relationships and friendships end and the more time goes by the harder it is to reconnect. Even though all my cousins from my mum’s side live in Germany, I haven’t seen them for decades. I’ve tried many times to connect and organize a family reunion but it failed every time because of the lack of interest from their side.

I never had a male role model in my entire life. No father, no uncles, no cousins and no brother. The ONLY man who I cherish in my heart was my wonderful grandfather. He was the ONLY man who sincerely cared about us. I wish I had the chance to spend more years with him than I did. All my memories are from my childhood and he was the best grandfather one could wish for. I always thought his love and devotion would connect me with my cousins. We may live in two different countries but we speak the same language, share a border and have the same blood. We could visit each other within an hour flight and only a few hours of train or car drive. But you can’t force love, no matter how hard you try.

One would think today with all the chatting APPS it is much easier to stay in contact and say hello from time to time, but even modern communication failed and I gave up once and for all. At least I don’t have to blame myself ever for not having tried everything in my power to bring everyone together.

The word “family” means nothing to me anymore. It is just a word. Family are those who care about your wellbeing and don’t forget and ignore your before you’re even gone.

Kindness and generosity are God-given gifts that you either have or don’t. People don’t change. If people have disappointed you or let you down in the past, they will do it again. If people have been dishonest, manipulative, and sneaky, they will continue their nasty and disgusting behavior. This is a lesson that I’ve learned the hard way over and over again with different people.

If people take your kindness, generosity, and good heart for granted or even feel that you are obligated, well they are wrong. Life is a two-way street. Love is a two-way street. When you drive a car into a one-way street you don’t go far. It’s the same with one-way-street relationships.

My grandmother was right when she said, only care about those who care about you. Only miss the ones who miss you. The older I get the more I understand the one-way-street relationships. It is sad to realize how I have tolerated nasty, cold, and ignorant behavior for decades and despite feeling the pain and disappointment over and over again, I continued the one-way-street relationships, because I can’t change myself either. I’m a giving, loving, caring and forgiving person. 

But ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. When people take your kindness for stupidity it's time to pull out the plug and say Fuck off! When I'm forgotten before I'm even gone, then there is no point in continuing the ping-pong game with dishonest, unkind, selfish, thoughtless and ungrateful people. Keep the ball to yourself and goodbye!

Ping Pong & Puzzle - You can’t miss what you never had!

On January the 13^th I’m releasing a very personal track. Ping Pong & Puzzle, Lily Amis feat. Thir13een is a pop song about letting go of people and past.

The older I get, the more I realize how important it is to let go. Life is too beautiful and short and time is too precious. Life could be so wonderful, if people wouldn’t hurt and disappoint us and reject our love.

I’ve learned that it is a waste of time to question everything and blame myself for people’s nasty behavior, selfish actions and thoughtless decisions. You can’t force anyone to love you. You can’t also force anyone to care about you, regardless of the relationship you have. Be it blood-related, relatives or just friends who have hurt you repeatedly, learn to let go and move on. Those who deserve you stay in your life and those who don’t appreciate you are simply not worth the love, care, time, effort and energy.

Trust me; I know what I’m talking about. My father left us at the age of 5 for another woman (one of many more wifes to come). My stepfather left us at the age of 12 for many other women at the same time. Two selfish, heart, conscienceless and godless creatures who probably to this date don’t understand how much damage they have done and how much pain and sorrow they have caused.

While I curse my stepfather every single day (yes, I do until my last breath!) for all the emotional and physical pain that he has caused my mother and me, I actually have tried to find my father for my own peace of mind. I hired a lawyer and found out that I have two half-siblings (from two different women). What shocked me the most was to find out that my father has DELETED me from his legal documents. As if I’ve never existed! Who does that? Only an awful soul with a heart of stone.

Well, I do exist and I’m damn proud of who I have become thanks to my strong, independent and sacrificing mother. Despite the many negative experiences in life she is always optimistic and positive. Why? Because of her faith, heart of gold, strong personality, kindness, honesty and generosity.

Life is a two way street. At some point I had to accept that my father had absolutely no interest in re-connecting with his first child. My two half-siblings (a sister and a brother) blocked me on Facebook after me reaching out to them. You know what? It’s their lost and not mine. As I said, you can’t force anyone to care about you regardless of relationship. These people are not meant to be in my life and I trust God, that there is a good reason for that! Also, you cant miss what you never had!
