The Swedish sunshine Carl Lindquist is back!

Carl Lindquist, the talented Swedish singer, songwriter and actor and one of my inspirational interview partners in 2016 is back with exciting news. His brand-new Metal/Rock album “EVERLASTING SCARS” was released on November 7. 2016 and I had the opportunity to catch up and talk about his work.

Carl first of all many thanks for doing this update-interview for my blog visitors and congratulations on your new-born baby "Everlasting Scars".
Many thanks Lily, and thanks for this update-interview!

Carl, you and your band “Coexistence” worked for a long time on your second Metal/Rock album  EVERLASTING SCARS”, which was released, WORLDWIDE on NOVEMBER 7th – 2016. What was the most exciting experience for you as the Lead singer during the process of recording it in the studio?

https://officialcoexistence.bandcamp.com/releasesThe overall experience when creating something brand new is always exciting. I love being in the studio, and I love the recording process. But of course it’s always special for me when we start the vocal recordings. I really go into this state of mind, putting aside everything else for a moment, just focusing on what I’m going to do next and how I’m gonna deliver the vocals. Then I really just enjoy the moment. It’s always special.

Coexistence” is a multicultural  Metal/Rock band with members from France, Sweden. So your music is representing the Europe of today. What is your message to the world with your songs? If you had to choose only one title from this album to spread your message which one would it be and why?

As always we want our listeners to feel connected to our songs in one way or another. Our lyrics are usually about personal experiences and real life events, so we hope and we want people to be able to relate to them when listening to our music. If our songs manage to do that, then we have succeeded with our message.

“Everlasting Scars” is about finding a new path in life after experiencing something really dark in your life. I do think that even though you’ve been true real pain, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

The theme we had for this album is “alienation” and it’s a big word for sure, but we wanted to write songs that could all be connected to that one word and that’s what we did. Every song is unique on this album, and every song has it’s own story to tell, but we could have easily named all the songs on the album to “Everlasting Scars” because they are all connected to each other.

If I had to choose one song from this album I would definitely choose “Bring Me Home”, because musically I think it’s the best song on the album, and it’s probably one of the best songs we’ve ever written in our career. It summarizes everything we want to say with this album, and as the storyline goes on it’s really the final redemption - even though the scars will never mend - you will still find a new path in life no matter what - “Unlocking my past, truth be told - what I seek will Bring Me Home”.

I listened to some of the songs from your album and my favourite one is “Bring Me Home”. Is there a special story behind this title that you like to share with my blog visitors?

Glad to hear that you like “Bring Me Home” so much. It’s also my favorite song on the album. The song is connected to the title track, “Everlasting Scars”, where we first follow this girl from her dark upbringing to many years later in her life, which leads us to “Bring Me Home”, where she finally has found redemption and the answers to her questions. The scars will forever be there, but she’s accepted that and she’s now ready to finally go on with her life. “These scars have given me a new sight - now my vision will always be bright”. It’s a special song to us, and it has a very special meaning.

Carl I feel very honored that you & your band allow me to post this beautiful song lyric of "Bring Me Home" exclusively here on my blog. It is much appreciated.

Bring Me Home

 ( Giraudo / Lindquist )

Years have gone by,

But still the memories.. They haunt me

Will I ever be free from this pain?

 Day and night I’ve endured

this wretched world

My dream of being reborn,

was this just a lie?

It all comes back to me, shadows beneath the surface

These wounds might never heal,

So I wonder.. Can I suppress what I feel?

Aching inside, darkness turned to pain

Needs to cease the fire

And let the water rain

It’s time to open up my eyes

See the beauty underneath

What life can bring
These scars have given me a new sight

Now my vision will always be bright

Hoping to find the answers in time,

the dawn of a new day is coming

 Breaking out from this misery,

Seasons change, winter to spring

I will go on

Unlocking my past, truth be told

What I seek will bring me home

Bring me home

Bring me home

Bring me home

Eternal pain, go away

This is the last time we meet

Forever and ever

These scars have given me a new sight

Now my vision will always be bright

Hoping to find the answers in time,

the dawn of a new day is coming

 Breaking out from this misery,

Seasons change, winter to spring

I will go on

Unlocking my past, truth be told

What I seek will bring me home

I feel alive again – everlasting scars

Finding my way home – surrender to the pain

Bring me home

Hoping to find the answers in time,

the dawn of a new day is coming

 Breaking out from this misery,

Seasons change, winter to spring

I will go on

Unlocking my past, truth be told

What I seek will bring me home

 Bring me home

Thanks again Carl and the best of luck to you and your band members Grégory Giraudo, Jérémy Vannereau and Florent Poulhès!

Who is Coexistence?
Who are the band members?
What is your story?

Coexistence is a French/Swedish progressive metal band. Inspired by bands like, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Iced Earth and... many others. It all started in August 2008, when French guitar-player, Grégory Giraudo and singer, Carl Lindquist met online. It happened when Grégory, after two years at the Conservatory for Music and with a Masters degree in Musicology in his hands, found and got seduced by the powerful and unique voice of this young Swedish singer, who was covering famous songs on YouTube.
It didn't take long before the duet started to work together through the Internet, sending song ideas back and forth to each other. Their collaboration gave birth to their debut EP entitled, "Carrion Comfort", released in June 2009.
The 4 tracks EP were well received by numerous websites and magazines, giving one after the other positive and encouraging feedback. Even the famous, Sweden Rock Magazine, praised the potential of the project, and their members. After the release of the EP, the original collaboration between Grégory and Carl gave birth to a real band with the addition of drummer, Jérémy Vannereau and bass-player, Florent Poulhès.
The band, ready and set in motion with these new additions, proved that the musicians had the capability to portray their musical touch and complex songs live to an audience at many times. Their performances were very well received every time they played in front of a crowd. Proof that Coexistence was meant to be more than just a studio project.
In July 2010, the band entered THD-studio in South of France to start recording their debut album entitled, “Flow”. It took them nothing less than an entire year to passionately craft and polish their debut, and a couple of months later the band was offered their first record deal by the American label, CD Inzane LLC. In July 2012, “Flow” was released worldwide, praised by the media with great reviews and feedback all over the world.
But the journey for the band had only started… After playing many shows, and promoting “Flow” across the globe, Coexistence had already started working on a 2nd album. In the beginning of 2013, they entered the studio once again to start the recordings of their new creation.
An album with songs that would be full of melodic rock elements, great guitar riffs, big choruses, emotional vocals, and haunting lyrics with strong connections to the theme, social alienation. A concept that would really define what Coexistence is all about. Brilliantly mastered by Tony Lindgren (James LaBrie, Paradise Lost, Kreator, Katatonia) at the famous, Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden.

Coexistence had given birth to their 2nd and most anticipated album so far, “Everlasting Scars”. The album was finally released in November 2016, and the future is now looking bright.
The band’s next goal is to get to the bigger stages, and to share their beautiful, progressive and well-written music to everyone around the world, and especially to the ones who are still trying to find their way back home. A Fire is Rising…
